Frequently Asked Questions

About Bump Compass

What is Bump Compass?

Bump Compass is a free pregnancy and early parenthood resource. We provide interactive calculators and expert-reviewed guides to help you navigate pregnancy with confidence. Every clinical claim is sourced to ACOG, NICHD, Mayo Clinic, or NHS.

Is Bump Compass a medical provider?

No. We are not a clinic, hospital, or medical practice. Our tools perform arithmetic based on standard formulas and published clinical guidelines. They do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your own healthcare provider.

Who is behind Bump Compass?

Bump Compass is published by Bump Compass Editorial, a small editorial team. We are not a large corporation — we are a focused project built to provide trustworthy, sourced pregnancy information.

Our Tools

Are the calculators free?

Yes. All tools on Bump Compass are completely free. There is no paywall, no subscription, and no account required.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every tool runs entirely in your browser. You do not need to sign up, log in, or provide any personal information.

How accurate are the calculators?

Our calculators use standard formulas recommended by ACOG. They are most accurate if you have regular cycles and know the date of your last period. A first-trimester ultrasound is more accurate than LMP-based dating. If the two differ by more than 7 days, ACOG recommends using the ultrasound date.

Why do you ask for my cycle length?

The standard pregnancy calculation assumes a 28-day cycle. If your cycle is longer or shorter, ovulation likely occurred later or earlier, and your due date should be adjusted. Many calculators ignore this adjustment — we include it because it is the most common source of error in pregnancy dating.

Can I use the tools if I have irregular cycles?

The tools will still provide an estimate, but it will be less reliable if your cycles vary significantly. If your cycles are irregular, we recommend discussing dating with your healthcare provider, who may use ultrasound for more accurate dating.

Do you store my dates or personal information?

No. All calculations happen in your browser. Your dates, cycle lengths, and other inputs are never transmitted to our servers or stored anywhere.

Privacy & Data

Do you use cookies?

We do not set any first-party cookies. However, Google AdSense may use cookies to serve personalized ads and measure ad performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Do you use analytics?

No. We do not use analytics tools. We do not track visitors, build profiles, or collect usage data.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not collect personal data, and we do not sell, rent, or share any information with third parties for marketing purposes.

What about GDPR?

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you. You also have the right to object to or restrict our processing of your data. Since we do not collect personal data, these rights are largely theoretical — but we respect them fully. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Medical Disclaimer

Can I use Bump Compass instead of seeing a doctor?

No. Our tools and guides are for informational and educational purposes only. They do not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your own healthcare provider with questions about your pregnancy, your baby, or your health.

What if the authorities disagree?

Where authorities disagree — on storage times, viability definitions, trimester boundaries, or other clinical questions — we show the range and name each source. We do not silently pick one. This is more useful than a confident number that may be wrong for your situation.

When should I call my clinician?

Contact your healthcare provider if you experience heavy bleeding, severe pain, fever, severe vomiting, sudden swelling, decreased fetal movement, or any other concerns. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 (US) or 999 (UK) immediately.

Affiliate Disclosure

Do you use affiliate links?

Yes. Some links on our guides are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Does this affect your recommendations?

No. We only recommend products that are relevant to the guide's subject. We do not recommend products solely because they pay a commission. We do not accept payment for positive reviews.

Do I pay more if I use your links?

No. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer.

Technical Questions

Why does the site look different on my phone?

Bump Compass is designed to be fully responsive. The layout adapts to your screen size — on mobile devices, the navigation collapses into a hamburger menu, cards stack vertically, and tables scroll horizontally.

Can I use the tools offline?

No. The tools require an internet connection to load the page. Once loaded, the calculations happen in your browser and do not require a server connection.

What browser do you recommend?

Bump Compass works in all modern browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. For the best experience, use the latest version of your browser.
