About Bump Compass Editorial
Bump Compass Editorial is the author byline for this site. We are a small editorial team, not a clinic, not a hospital, and not a medical practice.
What we do
We build free pregnancy, baby, and breastfeeding tools — calculators, schedules, and references — and we write guides that explain what the numbers mean and what the published guidance says.
Every tool on this site runs in your browser. We do not store your dates, your inputs, or any personal information.
How we source
Every clinical claim on this site carries a named source. We cite:
- ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) — practice bulletins, committee opinions, and patient education materials
- NICHD (Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development) — pregnancy and preterm birth guidance
- Mayo Clinic — patient care and health information
- NHS (UK National Health Service) — patient-facing clinical guidance
- CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) — public health recommendations
Where these authorities disagree — and they do, on storage times, on viability definitions, on trimester boundaries — we show the range and name each source. We do not silently pick one.
What we are not
- Not medical advice. The tools do arithmetic. The guides explain published guidance. Neither replaces a conversation with your own clinician.
- Not a substitute for prenatal care. If you have a question about your pregnancy, your baby, or your health, talk to your doctor, midwife, or nurse.
- Not a product recommendation service. When we mention a product, it is because it is the subject of the guide — not because we are paid to say so. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on every page that contains them.
Our standard
We hold ourselves to a simple standard: if a claim cannot be sourced to a named authority, it does not go on the site.
That means we sometimes say "the authorities disagree" or "there is no single definition" when a source would give you a clean answer. We think that is more useful than a confident number that is wrong for your situation.
Contact
If you find an error, a broken tool, or a source that has been updated, we want to hear about it. See our Contact page.
